Maria Berez of Granton, WI, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the Marshfield
Medical Center. She was 99.

Maria Nos was born March 21, 1918, to Sawka and Oksana (Ruchliada) Nos in
Ukraine.
She married John Berez on October 14, 1942, in Ukraine. John and Maria
immigrated to the United States in 1949, landing at Ellis Island, and eventually
settling in Chicago. In 1954, they purchased a farm in the Town of Lynn, and
they were dairy farmers until their retirement in the late 1980s.
They helped establish the Ukranian Orthodox Church in Granton, WI, and were
devoted members of the church.
Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to
cook, and garden.
She is survived, by three daughters: Helen (the late Paul) Dodge of Menomonie,
WI, Julie (Greg) Gorst of Granton, WI, and Gina (Tom) Labansky of Elroy, WI;
seven grandchildren: Jennifer Clark, John Luhman, James Dodge, Andrea Schulz,
Andrew Schulz, Jason Gorst, and Ashley Reissing; and 13 great-grandchildren:
Samantha, Adam, Brittney, Ryan, Aryas, Anya, Nicholas, Vincent, Arianna,
Anthony, Jack, Isabelle, and Louella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sawka and Oksana Nos; her husband,
John; two brothers; and her daughter, Valerie Schulz.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at the
Gesche Funeral home, Neillsville. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.jm. until the
time of Funeral Wednesday at the funeral home.
