Lonning, Judy Ann (17 September 1951 – 10 January 2018)

Judy Lonning, age 66, of Neillsville, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at her home after a long battle with ALS.

Judy Ann Reinart was born on September 17, 1951 in Neillsville, the daugher of John and Velda (Dehnert) Reinart. She attended Washburn Grade School, and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1969. Following graduation, she attended beauty school in Eau Claire, and became certified by the state of Wisconsin. On April 20, 1974, she was united in marriage to Kent Lonning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. Judy worked as a hairdresser at Joan’s Hair Hut until January 1976, when they started their family. Judy was a farmwife at heart. She loved doing chores, raising goats, and living on the farm. Later in life, Judy, went to work for the National Agriculture Statistics Service, collecting agriculture data in Wisconsin, for the United States government for 12 years. She retired from there this past June due to her health.

Judy was a member of the United Church of Christ, she was an FSA board member for 10 years, and was very active with 4-H. For many years she helped with the judging of the 4-H projects at the fair by scribing the judge’s notes. She had also, recently volunteered with the Social Services Department driving people in non-emergency need to their appointments or for their errands arou8nd town. Judy liked collecting bells, watching the Green Bay Packers, spending time with family, playing with her grandson’s, and enjoyed a daily Pepsi.

She is survived, by her husband, Kent, three children: Clark Lonning of Neillsville, Holly (Mike) Rudnick of Thorp, and Yvon (Mandi Rosenthal) Lonning of Minnesota, two grandchildren: Mason, and Wesley Rudnick; three brothers: Dale (Bev) Reinart of Neillsville, Wayne Reinart of Slinger, and Lee (Jill) Reinart of Neillsville. Judy is further survived, by her mother-in-law, Lois Lonning of Neillsville, and many nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Shawn, and her father-in-law, Gale Lonning.


Funeral services for Judy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate. Interment will be in the Town of Seif Cemetery, at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home, and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the church.
