Fort Polk, Louisiana, January 22, 1971: Army Private Robert J. List, 22, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James C. List, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) recently completed nine weeks
of advanced individual infantry training and lived under simulated Vietnam
conditions for five days, fighting off night attacks and conducting raids on
enemy villages. He was taught methods of removing booby traps, setting ambushes
and avoiding enemy ambushes.
Other specialized training included small unit tactics, map reading, land mine
warfare, communications, and firing the M-16 rifle, M-60 machine gun and the 3.5
inch rocket launcher.
Pvt. List entered the Army in August 1970 and completed basic training at Fort
Knox, Kentucky, where he was last stationed.
A 1966 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, he received his B.S. degree in 1970
at Wisconsin State University, Eau Claire.
His wife Sharon, lives on route 2, Withee.
