Lorenz, Carole C. (Bellows) (18 DEC 1930 - 13 JAN 2018)
Carole C. Lorenz, 87, went peacefully to her forever home on the evening of
January 13, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease and
heart failure.
Carole was born the youngest of three girls on December 18th, 1930 to Melvin and
Zora (Ecklor) Bellows in Stanley, WI. She grew up on the home farm where she
worked next to her family.
She attended Stanley schools and graduated from Stanley High in 1949. She and
her husband, Joseph, were married at Edson Catholic Parish on November 25, 1950
during a horrible snowstorm.
Carole worked at Shedd Brown in Eau Claire when they were first married until
they bought their farm in 1959. She enjoyed farm life, gardening and raising
their family on the farm until they purchased Rainbow Gardens Tavern in 1973
where she enjoyed having smelt feeds, sheepshead card tournaments, starting the
Sno-Gliders Snowmobile club, and putting on weddings in the dance hall. They
sold the tavern in 1984 and moved to Wyoming where she became “Grandma” to every
child that attended Kangaroo Pouch Daycare. They moved back to Boyd in 1988 to
care for her ailing mother-in-law. In 1997, they decided to start a new
adventure by moving to Loveland, CO and working with their son at Crystal
Landscape. From 1997 until 2010 they spent their summers in Colorado working at
the landscaping business and their winters in Wisconsin spending long periods of
time with all of their children and grandchildren every year. Upon retirement in
2010, they returned to Boyd, WI.
Carole was a member of All Saints Parish/St. Joseph Parish in Boyd, St.
Catherine’s circle and was treasurer for Catholic Order of Foresters for 35
years
Throughout her life, Carole enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards,
bowling and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended
family and friends. She had a special bond with each of her grandchildren
because she shared special moments with each and every one of them.
Carole will be greatly missed by her children, Barry (Barb) Lorenz of Rock
Springs, Wyoming, Kris (Bob) Berchem of Cadott, Wisconsin, Joseph Lorenz, Jr. of
Loveland, Colorado, Becky Lorenz of Boyd, Wisconsin, Peggy Herrick of
Wellington, Colorado, Mel Lorenz of Thorp, Wisconsin, Scott (Janet) Lorenz of
Cadott, Wisconsin, Joy (Darrick) Thompson of Boyd, Wisconsin and Tanya Lorenz of
Casper, Wyoming; 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws,
Lucille “Toots” Dzienkowski, Audrey (Bud) Polhamus and Margie Lorenz and one
brother-in-law, Ben Lorenz; along with many more relatives and friends.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, David; parents;
sisters, Thelma (Lawrence) Hagedorn and Phyllis Bellows; mother and
father-in-law, Ben and Izola Lorenz; brother-in-laws, Ed Lorenz, Jim Lorenz and
Clarence Lorenz; sister-in-laws, Mary Kille and Virginia (Jim) Mlsna.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 18 at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church-Boyd with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will
follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery-Stanley. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM
on Wednesday at the Plombon Funeral Home with a 7 PM rosary and Thursday morning
at the funeral home from 9 AM until departure to the Church.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at DaVita Dialysis in
Hallie for the attentive care and love they had for Carole, along with Sacred
Heart Hospital and all their staff that took such great care of her.
