Foemmel, Walter (25 October 1894 – 21 October 1974)
A Town of Grant native and longtime Town of Fremont resident, Walter Foemmel,
79, of Rt. 1 Chili, died Monday, October 21, at St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Marshfield.
Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from
Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, with the Rev. Everett Schleef officiating.
Interment will be in the Yolo Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, is
in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Foemmel was born October 25, 1894, in the Town of Grant, and received his
education in schools there and in Granton. He was a veteran of WWI.
His marriage to the former Viola Dahl took place April 21, 1923. The couple
farmed in the Town of Grant for about a year, then moved to the present farm in
the Town of Fremont in 1924.
He is survived, by his wife; by four children: Mrs. Lawrence (Irene) Smazal of
Prineville, Or., Mrs. Willis (Mildred) Berkett of Colby, Walter Foemmel, Jr., of
Beldonville, and Gilbert Foemmel of Chili; and by 16 grandchildren, and one
great-grandchild.
