Greenwood, Marcella “Marcie” J. (Pierce) (8 NOV 1944 - 12 JAN 2018)

Marcella “Marcie” J. Greenwood, 73, Cadott, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, after recently suffering a stroke.

Marcella was born in Chippewa County, Nov. 8, 1944, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Popple) Pierce.

She married William Greenwood Sept. 17, 1964. They lived on the Yellow River in Bateman for 14 years. The rest of the time, they lived in Cadott.

Marcella worked at Montgomery Ward in the catalog sales department; at Mason Shoe as a receptionist/switchboard operator; and at the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled as a resident care technician for 34 years, retiring in 2002. She was a very hard-working woman and always there to lend a hand.

She spent her time volunteering in many organizations, including the Cadott Area Historical Society, Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Red Hat Society, Homemakers’ Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Chippewa Valley Cultural Association, the Hallie Senior Citizens and numerous other organizations.

She also volunteered as the children’s librarian at the Cadott Library and held many Bible study groups. Marcella also volunteered her assistance so others could volunteer their time as well. She gave her time with lots of love to the many groups she served.

Marcella also enjoyed knitting, word searches, various farm related activities, gardening and traveling. But above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.

Marcella touched the hearts of all those who knew her – so much more than she will ever know. Her family’s wish for her, was to know how much she influenced those who met her and that her unconditional love will never be forgotten. Her infectious smile and big laugh will be missed by many. “We love you. Thank you so much for always loving us. You truly are the glue that holds us together. It is with your legacy that we will move on. We will strive to be more like you.”

She is survived by her husband – William, of 53 years; two sons – Russell, Chippewa Falls, and Scott (Staci), Cadott; grandson – Christopher, Chippewa Falls; sisters – Beverly Nengas, Barbara Marek and Marilyn Gunderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters – Bethel Pederson and Bonnie Geissler; and a brother – Bill Pierce.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Interment will be Friday, Jan. 19, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls, and one hour prior to the service Thursday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Cadott Historical Society or the Partner of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services in Chippewa Falls is serving the family.
