Bayerl, Borghild M., 96, of Cornell died Saturday at Cornell Area Care Center.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church,
Cornell.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Holcombe.
Borton-Leiser Funeral Home, Cornell, is handling arrangements.

CORNELL — Borghild Margaretha (Nickelson) Bayerl, 96, of Cornell died Saturday,
Jan. 27, 2018, after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 20, 1921, to Sigrid Olson and Nick Nickelson in Forsythe,
Mont., their family then moved to farm in the Ruby Community of Chippewa County.
After graduating from Stanley High School, Borghild studied nursing at the
Luther Hospital School of Nursing. She met and married Clement B. Bayerl in
1943. They lived and worked on the Bayerl dairy farm in Colburn.
Borg graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 and proudly worked
as a registered nurse at Stanley Hospital, The Northern Colony in Chippewa
Falls, and Zastrow’s Nursing Home in Gilman when her children were teenagers.
She was a great advocate for children’s health and education according to her
children and grandchildren.
She married Lawrence Kapsy in 1967 and moved to the Cleveland Township in 1981.
Borghild was predeceased by husband, Clement Bayerl in 1973; husband, Lawrence
Kapsy; sister, Marion B. Phillips of Osseo, Wis.; and brother Edward Rudi of
Gilman, Wis.
She is survived by three children, Robert E. (Diane) Bayerl of Holcombe, Wis.,
Mary A. (Kenneth) Swanson of Fort Myers, Fla., and Susan M. Lopez-Sublett of
Cornell; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three
great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 2, at the Holy
Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Holcombe, following the
funeral Mass.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday morning at the church.
