Daenicke, Donald M. (3 MAY 1930 - 20 JAN 2018)
Donald M. Daenicke, age 87, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018,
at Country Terrace Assisted Living under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Don was born in Abbotsford on May 3, 1930, to the late Martin and Laura (Heide)
Daenicke. He served his country in the National Guard and was later married to
Eunice Larsen on Aug. 21, 1948, in Abbotsford. She survives.
Don was employed at Getty Oil Company for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He was
very active in the community serving on numerous boards including the Tomahawk
School Board where he was president for three years, Tomahawk City Council,
Lincoln County Board and the Police & Fire Commission. He was a faithful member
of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the board for ten
years. Don was an animal lover who enjoyed helping and serving on the Lincoln
County Humane Society Board. In his earlier years, he looked forward to
roller-skating and met the love of his life, Eunice, at the roller-skating rink.
He also enjoyed boxing, playing pool, baseball, golf, camping and snowmobiling.
He loved feeding the birds and the “community dog”, Whitey. Most of all, Don
loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Daenicke of Tomahawk; two sons, Scott (Gail)
Daenicke and Jim Daenicke, both of Tomahawk; three sisters, Elaine Johnson of
Tomahawk, Beverly Michlig of Abbotsford and Shirley Marcott of Weston. Don is
further survived by his grandson, Neal Crass; and his brother-in-law, Marvin
Larsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Laura; a daughter-in-law,
Marcia Daenicke; his sister-in-Law, Jean Larsen; and three brothers-in-law, Ray
Johnson and Ronny and Darwin Larsen.
A funeral service for Don Daenicke will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at 6
p.m. at Generations Funeral Home, Tomahawk. The family will receive friends for
visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Entombment will take
place at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Generations Funeral Home and
Crematory is assisting the family.
