Gosse, Arvin W. (16 AUG 1922 - 28 JAN 2018)

Arvin W. Gosse, age 95, of Abbotsford, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at Dycora Transitional Health.

A private graveside service will be held at Abbotsford Public Cemetery with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post No. 2227. Rev. Mark Neumann will preside. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Arvin was born on Aug. 16, 1922, in Colby, the son of Carl and Callie (Kleiman) Gosse. He received his education in the Abbotsford School District. Arvin enlisted in the U. S. Army on Dec. 7, 1942, and served his country during WWII with the 94th Infantry Division (Patton’s 3rd Army) where he was their squad leader. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star, American Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars and two overseas service bars. Arvin was discharged on Oct. 27, 1945, with the rank of technical sergeant.

Arvin and the former Frances Schauer were united in marriage on Aug. 9, 1952, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. He was first employed as a cheese maker, then worked for Felker Brothers as a mechanic and later employed as an electrician for Wicks Building Systems in Spencer. Arvin was a member of the Abbotsford VFW Post No. 865 and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He loved to go fishing and hunting with his family and friends.

Arvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances of Abbotsford; two daughters, Judy Gosse of Blanchardville and Debby (Dick) Allmann of Colby; two granddaughters, Kristen (Chris) Knutson of Verona and Melissa (Randy) Raasch of Mosinee; one great-grandson, Wyatt Raasch; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arnold; and his two sisters, Wanita and Evelyn and a son-in-law, Paul Bruger.
