Knapp, Patricia Ann (Deuel) (3 MAR 1927 - 27 JAN 2018)
Patricia Ann Knapp, 90, of Cornell, WI died on January 27, 2018 at Dove Health
Care West - Palliative Care Wing, Eau Claire.
Patricia “Pat” was born on March 3, 1927 in Hannibal, WI, the daughter of Curtis
and Lucile (Dietzman) Deuel. Pat attended school in Hannibal and then Gilman,
WI.
Pat’s grandfather and then later her dad owned the local telephone company and
Pat learned to operate the switchboard at a young age. Pat married Virgil Knapp
on June 8, 1947 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Hannibal.
Their first home was in Milledgeville, Illinois where Virgil worked as a genetic
technician for 10 years. They then moved to the Sheldon area where they farmed
for 15 years. In 1966, they purchased the Hannibal Feed Mill, which they ran
until 1986. In her retirement years Pat spent time caring for elderly or ill
family members and friends and helping out in the church kitchen.
Pat was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church and a long time member of the
Gilman American Legion Auxiliary Post #359.
One of Pat’s favorite past times was reading, and as a young adult she served as
the Gilman Librarian. Pat passed down the love of learning and reading to her
children.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Carlotta (Lynn) Benson of Colfax and Beverly
(Dennis) Krizan of Cottage Grove; her brother, Herb (Alice) Deuel of Sheldon;
two grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil (1995), a son, John (1952) and a
son, Carl (1988) and her parents, Curtis Deuel (1995) and Lucile Deuel (1998).
A memorial Service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church at 11:00am on
Saturday, February 3rd with Pastor Bev Thompson officiating. A light lunch will
be served immediately following the service in the New Hope Fellowship Hall.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church.
Plombon Funeral Service-Gilman assisted the family with arrangements.
