John Kallio traveled to Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, on Thursday,
December 18, to register for second semester and take care of academic affairs.
On Saturday a friend, Fernando Chaves, and he returned home for the holidays.
Fern is from San Jose, Costa Rica, and presently lives in Los Angeles. They will
be returning to Cornell on January 11. Both are juniors there.
Charlene Hansen is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Hansen, Withee,
for the Christmas holidays. She is a senior at Eau Claire State University.
The Owen-Withee Wrestling team, along with their coach Tom Miller, left on
Monday for River Falls to watch the University wrestling team match their
strength against the West Point Military Academy wrestlers.
John Kallio, son of Mr. and Mrs. Toivo Kallio, returned home last Wednesday from
Costa Rica, where he has been studying for the past six months on a scholarship
from Cornell College in Iowa. He returns after Christmas to Cornell for second
semester studies.
Guests at the Robert Scidmore home last Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Phillips,
Mrs. Leo Luczak and Frank Noble of Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Evelyn Hoyt of
Milwaukee, who were all here to attend the funeral of Milton Kronschnable at
Dorchester on Thursday.
Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Al Boxrucker left on a vacation trip to Fort
Lauderdale, Florida, where they will enjoy the holiday season visiting with her
father.
Louis Dempsey of Waukesha visited here Friday at the home of his brother, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Dempsey and family.
