USS Ranger (FHTNC) – Boiler man First Class Clarence H. Mierkey, USN, son of Mr.
and Mrs. E.W. Mierkey of Route 1, Colby (Clark Co., Wis.), is serving aboard the
attack aircraft carrier USS Ranger of the coast of Vietnam.
The 80,00 ton Ranger is currently in its fifth combat tour in Vietnam and ninth
to the Western Pacific. This is her third cruise with Attack Carrier Air Wing
Two embarked. Ranger serves as flagship for Rear Admiral James C. Donaldson at
Bessemer, Alabama, Commander, Carrier Division Three.
