With U.S. Combat Air Forces in Western Pacific – Sergeant Richard A. Goessl, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Goessl of R.R.1, Curtiss (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, has
been recognized for helping the U.S. Air Force’s Third Air Division earn it
second Outstanding Unit Award.
Sergeant Goessl, a Strategic Air Command (SAC) aircraft mechanic at a forward
base in the Western Pacific, will wear the distinctive service ribbon as a
permanent demonstration.
His unite was cited for its successful and sustained serial accomplishments
within the Western Pacific Area, as directed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff from
March 2, 1968 to March 1, 1969.
The sergeant is a 1965 graduate of Dor-Abby High School, Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
