USS Midway (FHTNC) – Navy Chief Aviation Support Equipment Technician Glenn M.
Copeland, son of of Mr. and Mrs. William Copeland of Dorchester (Clark Co.),
Wisconsin, is serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Medway. The ship is
scheduled to be re-commissioned in San Francisco in January of this year.
The Midway, named for the famous World War II Pacific naval battle, has been
decommissioned while undergoing extensive modernization at the San Francisco Bay
Naval Shipyard. Her new features will give the carrier the capability of
operating the new aircraft now planned for the Navy during the 1970’s.
The carrier’s new home port will be Alameda, California.
