Rogstad, Clarence F. "Sparky" (18 JAN 1937 – 15 JAN 2018)
Clarence F. “Sparky” Rogstad, 80, Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Loyal, passed
away on Monday, January. 15, 2018, in Weslaco, Texas. Services were held on Jan.
27 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Lakewood. Rev. Msgr. Robert Kinkel officiated.
Clarence was born on January 18, 1937, in Quincy, Ill., to Edward and Hildegard
Rogstad. He graduated from Loyal High School, where he excelled in baseball,
basketball, football and student body activities, and he played in intricate
role in renaming his high school mascot to the Loyal Greyhounds. Sparky married
Patricia M. Watson on September 14, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Marshfield.
They were married for 60 years. They lived in Oshkosh, where he worked for 25
years at Hutter Construction until 1981, when they moved to Lakewood, Colo. He
then worked in construction until he retired from Summit Construction in 2006.
Sparky was a member of the Elks Club, Eagles Club and Knights of Columbus. He
was an avid hunter, loved the Green Bay Packers, and enjoyed dancing, traveling
with his wife across the country, and many other passions. The greatest memory
of traveling with Pat was their 3-month trip to Alaska to enjoy fishing and
sight-seeing. His greatest passion was polka dancing with his wife.
Survivors include four sons: Fritz, Tom, Bob and Bill and their wives; numerous
grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Weyhmiller of Loyal and Marian Ayers of
Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
