Marek, Paul A. (28 AUG 1982 - 22 JAN 2018)
Paul A. Marek, age 35, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at
Sacred Heart Hospital, in Eau Claire, with his loving wife at his side. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St.
Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski officiated
and burial followed in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Danny
Nowobielski, Raymond Alger, Roy Alger, Rodney Alger, Ron Marek and Michael
Ciolkosz. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, January 26,2018,
from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service.
Visitation was also held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time
of service.
Paul Allen Marek was born at Victory Memorial Hospital, in Stanley, WI, on
August 28, 1982, the son of Al and Renee (Alger) Marek. He was raised on the
family farm. Paul was educated at home, Thorp Catholic School, and Thorp High
School, graduating in 2001. He attended Chippewa Valley Technical College,
graduating in 2003 from the Machine Tool program. He was employed at Rochester
Concrete Products, in Thorp, as Plant Foreman. He married Kara Matti. They later
divorced, the marriage being annulled. Paul was united in marriage to Zuleyka
Gonzalez on February 20,2016.
He was an avid outdoor sportsman, enjoying turkey, bear and deer hunting, and
fishing year around with his sons, brothers, Dad, and friend Dan. Paul enjoyed
making maple syrup and working on his Ma and Dad's farm. He had a good,
sometimes twisted, sense of humor, enjoying a good laugh with family and
friends. Paul was also a ino bull! kind of guy.
He is survived by his wife, Zuleyka; his sons: Landon, Levi and Brody; his
daughters: Hailey and Sophia; his parents: A1 and Renee; his brothers: Aaron
(Amanda) and Matthew (Morgan); his sister, Veronica (Derek); maternal
grandmother, Rosella Alger; mother-in-law, Zoraida Tellado; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his infant son, Mason Nicholas.
