Sachs, Norene A. (Marriage – 26 October 1974)
St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee was the setting Saturday October 26, for the
3 p.m. wedding ceremony of Miss Norene A. Sachs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto
C. Sachs, Withee, and Carl D. Thorne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Thorne, Rt. 2
Owen.
The Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiated, and Mrs. Bert Everts played the organ
and accompanied the singing of Louise Luedke.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, designed a gown of couture crepe
featuring iris hand beading. Her headpiece was a design of stephanotis. She
carried a cascade of white cymbidium orchids, stephanotis and star flowers with
trailing ivy surrounded by caladium foliage.
Bridal aids were Miss Shirley Packowski, Withee, maid-of-honor, Mrs. Phyllis
Wilson, Owen, and Mrs. LaVonn Burky, Stanley. Their gowns of tiffany crepe were
designed by the bride in fall hues of gold, moss and orange. Each carried a
fall-toned bouquet of bronze, yellow and tangerine poms with preserved leaves
and baby’s breath.
Attendants for the groom were John Volk, Owen, bestman, Dennis Wilson and Dave
Gosse, also of Owen. Warren Sachs, Greenwood, and Jerry Nowak, Owen, seated
guests.
A reception was held at the church, with dinner served at 4 p.m. an evening
dance at The Sword, Colby, featured music by the Harmony Goldtones.
The bride a 1969 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, is employed by a Thorp
insurance corporation. Her husband graduated from Own-Withee High School in
1968, served in the U. S. Navy four years, and is presently employed in the
logging business.
Following a honeymoon in southern Wisconsin, the Thornes will make their home
north of Owen.
