Freimund, Joyce (Standiford) (25 NOV 1925 - 31 JAN 2018)
Joyce Freimund, age 92, was led to eternal life by her Lord and Savior on
Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Colby Retirement Community with her daughter
at her side.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at
Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Donald Bruce will officiate.
Interment will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Holton. Family
and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the
church.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the
arrangements.
Joyce was born November 25, 1925, in Milwaukee to the late Lewis and Esther (Shepard)
Standiford. Orphaned at an early age, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Paul
and Ernestine (Shepard) Kohl and attended Abbotsford Schools. As a young teen,
she was employed as a "new mother and baby" caregiver.
She was married to Rollan Freimund on August 12, 1944, and enjoyed 67 years
together before his death on January 28, 2012. Together they farmed in the Town
of Holton until 1972, when they moved to Abbotsford. Joyce was employed as
bookkeeper and office manager for Case Equipment prior to her retirement.
Joyce enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and providing family and friends
with great meals. She liked different crafts, crochet projects, and decorating
their home. Joyce always looked for ways to show her family how much she loved
and cared for them.
Joyce will be sadly missed by her son: Thomas Freimund of West Allis and
daughter: Barbara Freimund of Wausau; four grandchildren: Rebecca (Daniel)
Jagielski of Slinger, Wayne Freimund of West Allis, Matthew (Darcy) Fasse of
Elko, MN and Melanie (William) Horzuesky of Madison; five great-grandchildren:
Noah and Jonah Jagielski of Slinger, Castor and Kasey Freimund of Milwaukee and
Chantel (David) Rypkema of New Prague, MN; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollan and a daughter-in-law, Janet
(Schauer) Freimund.
The family would like to thank Aspirus Home Hospice for their kind, loving
service provided to Joyce. Also a special "thank you" to Colby Retirement
Community Director and Staff for the great care over the past five years.
