Stubinski, Benedict T. (23 JUL 1943 - 24 JAN 2018)
Benedict T. Stubinski, 74, Saco, Maine, formerly of the town of Marathon, passed
away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, in Scarborough.
He was born July 23, 1943, in Wausau, son of the late Benedict A. and Elizabeth
(Punke) Stubinski. He is a 1961 graduate of Marathon High School. He married
Marsha Van Schoyck on June 1, 1963.
Ben served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He sailed on many ships
including the USS Fortify, USS Execel, USS Exploit and the USS Killauea. While
serving in the Navy, Ben earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal, three Bronze Stars
and the Purple Heart.
In 1979, he and his family moved to Saco where he was employed by the United
States Postal Service in Portland. He retired after 30 years as a maintenance
supervisor.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, stock car racing and R-Ving. He enjoyed
sharing his adventures with family and friends. The family will cherish these
memories forever. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; four sons, James (Jocelyn) Stubinski, Scott
Stubinski, Lance Stubinski and Derik (Sara) Stubinski; five grandchildren,
Alissa, Ryan, Kyle, Logan and Brady; three sisters, Janice (Harry) Matis,
Mosinee, Suzanne (Ron) Dirks, Wausau, and Carrie (Ben) Zelazoski, Antigo; and
many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Cote Funeral Home
Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco, Maine. Visitation was from noon until the time of
service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
