Approximatel one hundred people stopped in at the Ralph Peterson home on Friday
afternoon, March 27, 1970 to greet Mrs. Edwin Peterson on the occasion of her
80th birthday.
The guests from Osseo, Strum, Sparta, Montello, Stevens Point, Appleton, Unity,
Whitehall and Abbotsford, as well as from the immediate area, were served coffee
by her two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Art Peterson and Mrs. Ralph Peterson, who were
ably assisted by Mrs. Willard Geary of Curtiss.
Mrs. Peterson, born Anna Thompson, has been a lifelong resident of this
community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.). She received her education in the little
country school out here, and was graduated from the Colby High School, after
which she took teachers' training in Stevens Point, at what was then the State
Normal. She taught school for several years before marrying Edwin M. Peterson on
June 19, 1920. Mr. Peterson died December 11, 1951.
Present at this "Four Score Birthday Party" were her two sons, Arthur of
Madison, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, and Ralph, who is on the
home farm. Also in attendance were her two granddaughters and all but one of her
seven grandsons.
