Ambelang, Ruby Janette (6 January 1931 – 13 February 2018)

Ruby Ambelang, 87, of Neillsville, died at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, on Tuesday February 13, 2018.

Ruby was born January 6, 1931 in the Township of Pine Valley to Fred A. and Blanche A. (Begley) Mohr. She attended Silver Crest School as a child and then graduated from Neillsville High School in 1949. She worked at Auto Test Inc. for several years before and after her marriage to Harry William Ambelang on September 4, 1954. They started their lives together on the family dairy farm in the Town of Hewitt. In December of 1958 the children started to arrive, and she became a full-time mother and farm wife to 4 sons and a daughter. She always had a big garden and a pickle patch right to the very end. She also had a love of flowers and planted most of the front yard to a wide variety of colorful flowers. As the children grew, she worked for a few years sorting cranberries at the Edlen Cranberry Marsh because it was close to the farm and to give her a break from the kids. Her cousin Florence always said that she was the hardest working woman that she ever knew. Dairy farming is not an easy job and the work is never done. We will really miss her cooking, baking and all the good things she did for us. She transitioned to be with God and her husband close to milking time on February 13, 2018. She was 87 years old.

Ruby is survived by 5 children; David (Yong), Grand Forks, ND, Glenn (Christine), Eau Claire, Jerry, Neillsville, Karen (David) Northup, Neillsville and Harley, Marshfield, 10 grandchildren; Jenny, Laura, William, Joseph, Amy, Michelle, Scott, Cody, Alex and Sawyer, 7 great grandchildren; Jenna, Jolene, Isaiah, Alyssa, Oliver, Isabella and Tyla. She is also survived by siblings; Beatrice (Roy) Quelle, Oronoco, MN, Dorothy Waller, Withee and George (Sally) Mohr, Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, brothers, Donald and Harold and her parents.

Her family would like to thank the MMC staff, especially Frankie and Katie for making “Ms Ruby’s” transition as good as it gets for our mother and all her family.

A Funeral Service will be held for Ruby at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018 at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the United Church of Christ and again from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday at the church prior to the service.

Casketbearers were her grandsons: William Ambelang, Joseph Ambelang, Alex Northup, Sawyer Ambelang, Cody Northup, Scott Ambelang
