Blodgett, Laura (24 JAN 1895 – APR 1970)
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 6, 1970 from St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, Curtiss, for Mrs. Laura Blodgett, with Pastor Roger Tellock officiating.
Hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "In the Garden" were sung by
granddaughters, Kathryn and Marilyn Maki, with Miss Donna Ham at the organ.
Services were also held in Flemington, New Jersey at the Holcomb-Fisher Funeral
Home on Saturday, April 4, with clergymen Robert Gue and Rev. Leon Weaver
officiating. She was flown to Eau Claire, where Hoeper and Kraut Funeral
Directors took charge. Interment was att the Norwegian Cemetery, where her
husband was buried.
Pallbearers were friends of the family, Joseph Hiebsch, Owen; Chet Knight,
Abbotsford; John Lokken, Cornel Erickson, Art Thompson and Harry Kopp of
Curtiss.
Mrs. Blodgett was born to Norwegian immigrant parents, C.V. and Anna Anderson,
on January 24, 1895 at Elk mound, Wis. She was married to Joseph D. Blodgett in
March 1914, living for a time at Elk Mound, and then farming in the Eau Claire
area until 1930. They moved to the Owen-Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) to a farm in
the town of Hoard in May of 1930. Her husband preceded her in death in January
1937. She moved to Abbotsford in 1938, where she lived until 1948, when she left
the area to make her home near her children in New Jersey.
Survivors include four sons, Curtis and J. Dixon of Somerville, N.J.; Wayne and
Charles of Flemington, N.J.; four daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Hazel) Smith of
Sergeantsville, N.J.; Mrs. William C. (May) Reasoner, Flemington, N.J.; Mrs.
Floyd (Phyllis) Bowen of Owen, and Mrs. William T. (Ilene) Maki of rural Owen;
two brothers, Martin Anderson, Barron, Wis., and Fred Anderson, Forest Lake,
Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Edna) Rhude, Eau Claire, and Mrs. A.W. (Carolyn)
Mack of California. One son, Percy, and two brothers, and two sisters and her
parents preceded her in death.
She leaves 28 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and
friends.
