Sweningson, Mildred “Midge” (Zentner) (9 JUN 1928 - 11 FEB 2018)
Mildred “Midge” Sweningson, 89, of Marshfield, formerly of Medford, passed away
Sunday February 11, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Midge was born June 9, 1928 in the Town of Hanson, Wood County, to the late
George and Emma (Braeger) Zentner. At the age of one she moved with her family
to Westboro, where she attended Westboro Schools, and was a 1946 graduate of
Westboro High School.
Upon graduation from high school she took employment with Krug Law Office in
Medford, and became a legal secretary until the time of her retirement in 1995.
She was united in marriage to Paul A. Sweningson Jr., on July 13, 1968, at the
Methodist Church in Pine City, Minnesota. Paul preceded her in death on April
25, 2006.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women’s
Circle, the Keenagers group, and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many
years. She was also a member of the Chequamegon Bird Club, and served on the
board of Medford Performing Arts.
Midge enjoyed nature, picking wild flowers, feeding and watching birds, walking,
shopping trips to the mall and traveling.
She is survived by her Son, Paul A. Sweningson, III, of Marshfield, Grandson,
Ethan Paul Sweningson of Marshfield, and several nieces and nephews. She is
further preceded in death by her brothers: George, David, Victor and Emmett,
Sister Emily Zentner and Sister in Law Marie Zentner.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday February 17, 2018 at Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the
time of services. Burial will take place at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro.
Memorial donations in honor of Midge can be given to the Medford United
Methodist Church.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with
