Artus, Elaine J. (Ziegel) (28 AUG 1929 - 9 DEC 2016)
Elaine J. Artus, 87, Wausau, died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute
Care, Weston.
She was born August 28, 1929 in Hamburg, daughter of the late Frederick and
Martha (Lutzke) Ziegel. On January 26, 1952 she married Wallace Artus in
Hamburg. He survives. At a young age Elaine worked at Fromm Brothers Ginseng.
After her marriage she was a homemaker, dairy and ginseng farmer.
Elaine enjoyed bowling, Polka music, going out to eat, occasional trips to the
casino and above all attending her grandchildren's events. Christmas was her
favorite time of year and she cherished the time spent with her family. Everyone
was always welcome and never left hungry. Mom was a kind, generous, caring and
selfless woman.
Survivors include her husband, Wallace; children, Kathy Artus, Kenny (Dawn
Gauerke) Artus, Gary Artus, Mary (Robert) Schultz, Lynette (Lyle) Schuster and
Kerri (Bryne) Ohde; grandchildren, Nicholas (Andrea Morissey) Kimberly (Robb),
Terra (Craig) Trudy (Kurt), Trent (Alicia Jager) , Trista (Josh), Trevor, Tonya
(Tony), Kendra and Kaleb; 15 great-grandchildren; niece, Gloria (Ron) Lavicka;
sister-in-law, Marvel Artus.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law,
Eldora (Frank) Zocher.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Rib Falls
United Methodist Church, Rib Falls. Rev. Tim Gurlea will officiate. Burial will
be in Rib Falls Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m.
until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a 7:00
p.m. prayer service on Sunday at the Marathon funeral home.
Mom's golden years were robbed by Alzheimer's disease. A heartfelt thank you to
the past and present nurses, CNA's and supporting staff at Atrium Post Acute
Care and Aspirus Hospice for their care and also to all of you who have been a
part of her life's journey and her final days. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
