Bates, Mary E. (18 FEB 1926 - 5 OCT 2005)

Mary E. Bates, 79, Medford, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 8 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating.

Cremainal interment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Durand at a later date.

Pallbearers were Stephanie Voegele, David, Ryan and Toni Bates, all grandchildren.

MEDFORD - Mary E. Bates, 79, of Medford, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Mary was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Eau Claire. She married Laurence A. Bates on June 2, 1949, in Durand.

She was employed as a registered nurse in several communities, the latest as a county nurse with Taylor County. She retired in 1987.

Surviving are her husband, Larry A. Bates of Medford; a daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Voegele, Sturgeon Bay; three sons, David (Peggy) Bates, Faribault, Minn., Michael (Patricia) Bates, Eagle River, and Stephen (Katherine) Bates, Hudson; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.

Cremainal interment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Durand.
