Makovec, Janet E. (7 MAR 1951 – 13 JUN 1970)
A 19 year old Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) girl, Janet Ellen Makovec, became suddenly
ill early Saturday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ronald Wolf, with
whom she was visiting at Nekoosa. She was immediately rushed to Riverview
Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, where she passed away at 10:05 a.m. Death was
attributed to a pulmonary embolism.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Makovec, rural Owen, Janet was born March 7,
1951 at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield. She was 19 years, three months and
six days of age. She attended the Holy Rosary parochial school for eight years,
and was graduated from Owen-Withee High School with the class of 1969. This past
school term she had been enrolled at WSU, River Falls.
During her high school career she was especially active in music, having
participated in band, brass choir, solo ensemble and Mass Band. In addition she
served on the newspaper staff, student council, A.F.S. Committee, and was a
member of the Pep Club, French Club and Art Club.
Her sudden passing is mourned by her parents, four sister, Mrs. James (Joan)
Carlsen, Owen; Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Wolf, Nekoosa, and Marilyn and Lori at
home; two brothers, Joseph and John, both at home, and a host of friends and
classmates.
Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Holy Rosary
Catholic Church, Owen, with Father H.L. Crubel officiating. Burial was made at
Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Galarowicz, Tom Wittek, Rich Phillips, Bill Mauel, Jim
Bliven and Robert Nordloff.
