Hetchler, Juanita “Nita” (Irwin) (9 OCT 1921 - 14 FEB 2018)
Nita passed away at home with family on February 14, 2018. After 96 years of a
full and busy life, her heart could do no more.
Juanita was born on October 9, 1921 near Ladysmith, WI to Clark Winfield Irwin
and Minnie Centennia (Hawley) Irwin. She was the youngest of eleven children,
all of whom preceded her in death.
Nita married Raymond Clayton Hetchler on April 1, 1952 in Mississippi where he
was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. Their only child, Kathleen “Katy”
(Hetchler) Forsythe, was born a year later.
Nita worked at a variety of jobs including, nanny, secretary, and food service
worker. But her real focus was on being a wonderful wife and mother and later
grandmother and great grandmother. She loved these roles.
Nita and Ray traveled widely, living in nine states and traveling to many more
places, including Alaska and the Canadian Rockies. She loved family camping
trips and especially taking the grandchildren to see the western United States.
Nita was determined to be in a helping role wherever she was. She was very
talented at handcrafting beautiful things such as, baby blankets, sweaters,
quilts, clothing, mittens and more - all to be given to others. Her passion for
baking, especially pies, was greatly appreciated by visitors to her home.
Nita was preceded in death by her father and mother; ten siblings, and
son-in-law, Daniel Forsythe. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond
Hetchler; her daughter, Kathleen “Katy” Hetchler Forsythe; grandsons, Nathan
Daniel Forsythe and Ryan Patrick Forsythe; granddaughter Therese “Tessie”
Forsythe-Hill; grandson-in-law, Randy James Hill; and two great grandchildren,
Oliver Daniel Hill and Paige Mackenzie Hill.
Arrangements are pending at this time. Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of
Altoona and Bloomer is serving the family.
