Pelham, Emma Bertha (Sekadlo) (29 AUG 1912 - 3 MAY 1999)
Rib Lake native Emma Bertha Pelham, 86, of Cassopolis, Mich., died Monday May 3,
1999, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, Mich. There was no funeral or
memorial service. The body was cremated.
Connelly Funeral Home in Cassopolis handled the arrangements.
The former Emma B. Sekadlo was born August 29, 1912, in Rib Lake to John and
Bertha (Kocar) Sekadlo. She attended Rib Lake public schools. Her marriage to
Hubert Pelham took place on April 19, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa.
She and her husband lived in Medford for 23 years when he was a printer/pressman
at The Star News. She was a store clerk at the Rib Lake Lumber Company Store and
other stores in Rib Lake and Medford.
During World War II, she worked at the Golden Nugget Candy Factory in San
Francisco, Calif. She ended her working years correlating printed material for
the Cassopolis Vigilant. She enjoyed fishing and reading numerous newspapers.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert; a brother, Louis Sekadlo of Medford; a
sister-in-law, Ellen K. Pelham of San Leandro, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and
other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
