Flora, Russell K. (8 JUL 1937 - 20 FEB 2018)

Russell K. Flora, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Rib Lake Nursing Home.

He was born on July 8, 1937 in West Allis, WI to Emmet and Mrytle (Wry) Flora. Russ was united in marriage to Ruth Warrick, they later divorced. He was then married to Harlene (Skip) Herrell and they also later divorced.

He is survived by his children – Tammi (Rod) Hodges, Bloomfield, IN; Tom (Joanna), Jonesville, VA; Richard (Tonya), Bloomfield, IN; Robert (Tammy), Fort Meyers, FL; Rick (Patty), Medford, WI and Gail (Jerry) Ridge, Springtown, TX. Additionally, 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Duane, Verwin and Merwin Flora.

Russell worked in a variety of occupations throughout his life. He was a truck driver, camper hauler and volunteer driver for the Commission of Aging. He manufactured windows and at one point, owned and operated a bar in southern Wisconsin.

He enjoyed people, created friendships wherever he went and never missed a Packer game. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards and became an avid NASCAR fan.

Russell requested that no formal service be held. Instead, he asked that family and friends come to a ‘happy hour’ celebration of his life that will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 3-7pm at the last place he called ‘home’ – 880 E. Perkins Street, Medford, WI. Guests will be invited to share stories, tell jokes, play cards, enjoy a whiskey coke and – his favorite … a hot beef sandwich. Those attending are asked to drive around to the back of the building and use the lower entrance.
