Recipient of a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education during commencement exercises at WSU, Stevens pOint was Verland Karpinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Karpinski of route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

He was among 625 graduates to receive degrees at the university's 76th annual spring commencement on the 31st of May 1970.

Ceremonies were conducted in the university field house with Dr. Thomas Stephens Haggai as the speaker. A , former Baptist minister, Dr. Haggai in recent years has done his own radio program on "Values in Living", which is played by more than 100 radio stations.
