USS Schenectady (FHTNC) – Navy Seaman Dennis J. Ackerman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Ackerman Jr. of Route 1, Curtiss (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, participated in
the commissioning of ht etank land ship USS Schenectady at San Diego,
California.
Bigger than it predecessors, the Schenectady will provide more effective and
efficient method of transporting and landing combat troops, tanks and artillery
on a beach.
