Rohland, Agnes D. (17 DEC 1921 – 21 FEB 2018)
Colby - AGNES D. ROHLAND, age 96, of Colby, WI, formerly of Withee, passed away
peacefully at Colby Retirement Community, in Colby, on Wednesday, February 21,
2018. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St.
John's Lutheran Church, in Withee. Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate and burial will
follow in Riverside Cemetery, rural Withee. Pallbearers will be Dave Missling,
Eric Rohland, Troy Rohland, Tyler Churchill, Nathan Rohland and Ethan Rohland.
Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 9:30am until time of
service.
Agnes Delores Konieczny was born on December 17, 1921 in Thorp, WI, to Frank and
Sophie (Haider) Konieczny. She was raised and received her education in the
Thorp area, graduating from Thorp High School in 1939. Agnes attended St.
Joseph's School of Nursing, in Marshfield, WI, graduating in 1943. She then
served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. during WWII, as a Registered
Nurse, from January 4, 1944 to March 17, 1946. Agnes was united in marriage to
Otto Rohland on March 8, 1947. They farmed together in rural Withee all of their
married life, and she also worked as a nurse at the Clark County Health Care
Center from 1966 until her retirement in 1986.
Agnes will be remembered as a generous mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening,
solving crossword puzzles and word searches, and was excellent at solving the
puzzles on the "Wheel of Fortune" game show.
Agnes was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide, and served
as a hospice volunteer following her retirement.
She is survived by her 6 children: Janis (Al) Missling of Withee, Jerrold
Rohland of Green Bay, Marilyn (Ken) Churchill of Green Bay, Robert (Sharon)
Rohland of Thorp, Steven Rohland of Fort Atkinson, Brian (Dorthy) Rohland of
Bloomer; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother: George (Joanne)
Konieczny of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto, on January 25,
1990; one son, Todd, on January 12, 1970; one sister: Margaret Rohland; and 4
brothers: Leon, Tom, Frank and Stanley Konieczny.
