Komanec, Elizabeth “Betty” (Prasnicky) (14 JAN 1930 - 26 FEB 2018)
Elizabeth “Betty” Komanec, 88, formerly of Gilman, died Monday, February 26,
2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital-Eau Claire.
She was born on January 14, 1930 in Rossford, OH the daughter of the late John
and Anna (Cervenec) Prasnicky. Her family moved to the Gilman area when she was
16 and she married Joseph Komanec on February 26, 1949 at Saints Peter & Paul
Catholic Church.
Betty enjoyed gardening, wildlife watching, ice fishing, sewing, quilting and
polkas. She loved children and took care of many family members over the years.
She is survived by her children, Joanne (Jeff) Ahlers of Chippewa Falls, Joe
(Lynne) Komanec, John (Donna) Komanec, Rose (Tom) Reyzer and Tina (Roger)
Nichols all of Gilman, Louise Komanec of Woodbury, MN and George (Roxanne)
Komanec of Bloomer, 16 grandchildren, 14 great children, her sisters, Anna Marie
Schueller of Ladysmith, Roseanna Sokolowski of Bruce and Virginia (Lee) Andersen
of Merrifield, MN and two brothers, Tony Prasnicky and John (Cindy) Prasnicky
both of Sheldon.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, grandchildren, Brent
and Krystal Komanec, brothers Edward and Joe Prasnicky and sisters Johana and
Dorothy Prasnicky.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Saints Peter &
Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Madanu Lourdu officiating. Burial will
follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on
Friday at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 7:45 Rosary and visitation on Saturday
morning one hour prior to services at the church.
