Ruby was born in the town of Unity, Clark County on May 3, 1924, the daughter of Lloyd and Julia (Johnson) Hebert. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Ruby graduated from Unity High School in 1942. On May 3, 1943 she and Raymond H. Neumann exchanged marriage vows at St. John’s Lutheran Church, north of Spencer. Raymond preceded her in death on October 2, 1988.

Her employment included Spencer State Bank and Spencer Public School as a librarian assistant. Ruby was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide. She loved to knit, crochet, sew, read and play games with her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. During her residency at The Waterford at Colby she was the unofficial host, greeting and visiting with any new guest. Ruby had an amazing sense of humor, always making others smile. Her undefeated sense of humor even in the later years was enjoyed by all who met her.

Ruby will be greatly missed by her children: Sandra (Gerald) Smith of Spencer, Diane (Larry) Decker of Colby and Douglas (Linda) Neumann of Unity; her sisters: Arlene Will of Colby, Virgean Zahn of Spencer and Lois (Richard) Oestreich of Spencer. She is further survived by her nine grandchildren: Jesse Neumann, Jared Neumann, Sheri (Ronald) Schuh, Craig (Carmin) Elsinger, Shane (Julie) Elsinger, Blake (Kelly) Elsinger, Kim (Kent) Frome, Kristi (C.J.) Hall and Ryan (Becky) Decker and her 17 great-grandchildren: Cailee (Jordan) Soyk, Camron Schuh, Elijah Schuh, Aryiah Schuh, Morgan Elsinger, Austin Elsinger, Lee Elsinger, Amelia Elsinger, Evan Frome, Olivia Frome, Angela Esselman, Jack, Grant and Benjamin Decker, Rowan Hall and Channing Hall.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Julia, her husband Raymond, her son Jerry “Jack”, her sister Betty Boehning and her brothers Donald, Gerald, Virgil and Ward Hebert.

Ruby’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Waterford for their amazing kindness, caring and loving attention given to “Rubester”.

Her arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
