Rodgers, Kenneth A. (16 June 1911 – 9 November 1974)
Kenneth A. Rodgers, 63, Greenwood died early Saturday morning, November 9 at the
Memorial Home, Neillsville, where he had been a patient since October 1970.
Mr. Rodgers was born June 16, 1911 at Adelphi, Ia. He received his education in
schools in Runnells, Ia. He came to Clark County in 1929 with his parents and
lived in the Greenwood area ever since.
He was married December 29, 1943 in Hattiesburg, Ms., to Irene Killion, who
survives him.
He was a member of the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post, of which he was a
past commander, and service officer for many years; also, a member of the
Disabled American Veterans of Marshfield and of the Chef de Gare 40 et 8 of
Clark County and helped to establish and promote the nursing scholarships
sponsored by the 40 et 8. He was alderman for the city of Greenwood for a number
of years and was a member of the Clark County fair board, until his health
failed. He had love and faith for his country and for his fellow man and he did
good works.
Surviving him besides his wife are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rodgers of
Plainfield; one sister, Mrs. Betty Cummings of Bancroft; one half-sister, Audrey
of Plainfield, a half-brother, Harold of Sioux City, Ia.; a step-brother John
Lewis of Texas and a step-sister, Mrs. Margaret Morgan of Des Moines, Ia.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12 at the Grace
United Methodist Church. The Rev. Eugene Antrim, pastor officiated. Burial was
made in the Greenwood Cemetery, with the Wallis-Hinker Legion Post No. 238
performing Military rites.
