Braatz, Dennis H. (14 SEP 1948 - 23 FEB 2018)
Dennis H. Braatz, age 69, of Eau Claire, died on Friday, February 23, 2018 at
Mayo Health System in Eau Claire.
Dennis was born in Neillsville, WI to Don and Irene Braatz on September 14, 1948
as the third of three children. He graduated from Neillsville High School and
then obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UW-Eau Claire before
becoming a biology teacher in Thorp, WI for a short time.
He then moved on and joined his father in the family owned TV & appliance
business “Braatz Appliance Center” on London Rd in Eau Claire for 20 years. Upon
closing the business, he went back to school and obtained another B.S. degree
from UW-Eau Claire in Nursing in 1994 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Luther
and Sacred Heart Hospitals.
In 1976 Dennis married his best friend, Marlene (Biller) Braatz and they shared
a special 42 years of memories together. Dennis was an avid hunter and
outdoorsman that enjoyed spending time with friends and family in the woods or
on a lake fishing. He had a gift of gab, enjoying various topics and telling
jokes. His knowledge of biology, forestry, and wildlife made spending time with
Dennis in the woods an educational and fun experience. His most cherished times
were the annual hunting camp at the family land in Clark Co, WI.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Don & Irene Braatz. Dennis is
survived by Marlene Braatz, son; Hunter (Lisa) Braatz, adopted-daughter; Sophia
Jensine, brother; Daryl (Marie) Braatz, sister; Corrine (Kenneth) Parker, and
grandchildren; Dawson & Dalton Braatz.
A funeral service will be held at 11am - 12:30pm on March 10th, 2018 at
Concordia Lutheran Church on London Rd in Eau Claire before moving onto Ole’s
Southside Tavern to honor Dennis in a way he would appreciate.
