Mauel, Elenora (2 JAN 1895 – 6 OCT 1970)

At 11 o'clock this forenoon (Thursday, October 8) funeral services will be conducted at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, for Mrs. Henry Mauel Sr. Father George Becker will officiated at the final rites, with burial to be made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Mauel, Peter Mauel, Richard Koenig, Richard Swiontek, and Luke Kloke.

Mrs. Mauel (nee Elenora Berg), succumbed to a long illness, which had minimized her activities at her home, with death coming at 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 1970. Born January 2, 1895 at Ashford, Wisconsin, she had attained the age of 75 years, 4 months and 9 days.

On March 16, 1916 she and Henry Mauel Sr. exchanged nuptial vows in a ceremony performed at Ashford, Wis. Three years later the couple moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where he operated an ice cream factory and dairy business. During their early eyars she was quite active in the management, as secretary and bookkeeper. Her interests extended beyond those of the business her home however, as she was most active in the affairs of her parish. She and her husband, in fact, were most instrumental in the establishment of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, having brought the parish into being here many years ago. In addition. she served several terms as president of the Altar Society, was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, and of the Owen Gray Ladies. Four years ago she and Mr. Mauel observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, Henry; a son, Henry Jr.; four daughters, Eleanora, Owen; Mrs. Edward (Irene) Lehnen, Owen; Alice, Wausau, and Mrs. Marvin (Rosalie) Koenig, West Bend; 24 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Irene Kloke, Campbellsport.
