Haas, Isabelle T. (Mayr) (22 JUN 1920 - 9 MAR 2018)

Isabelle T. Haas, age 97, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Colby Retirement Community under the tender care of Aspirus Hospice.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Tim Oudenhoven presided. Interment followed at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed from 12 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the church.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.

Isabelle was born on June 22, 1920, the daughter of Julius and Katherine (Schnell) Mayr in the Town of Mayville. She attended school in Abbotsford and Stetsonville, graduating from Dorchester in 1939. Isabelle was united in marriage to Arthur Haas, Sr. on June 11, 1942, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford.

She worked in Chicago and on her father’s dairy farm before her marriage, then farmed with her husband for 32 years east of Unity. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2012.

Isabelle was a member of St. Bernard and the PCCW. She enjoyed making quilts, crafts, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, canning produce from her garden and was famous for her apple squares. Her family was her life; she loved to read to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Isabelle is lovingly survived by her six children, Joyce (Reggie) Morgison of Virginia, Rita (Richard) Kloehn of Unity, Robert (Marion) Haas of Unity, Leonard (Mary) Haas of Colby, Judy (Dennis) Blazel of Marshall, and Karen (Rick) Block of Medford; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Haas of Madison; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is further survived by four brothers, Joseph Mayr of Columbus, Julius (Bridgette) Mayr of De Forest, Bernard Mayr of De Forest and Leander (June) Mayr of Denver, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Clara Mayr of De Forest; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Arthur Haas Jr.; grandson, Joshua Block; granddaughter, Laura Lee Johnson; granddaughter-in-law, Ines Haas; three sisters, Angeline Wright, Marie Carver and Margaret Heindl; and two brothers, Sylvester and Fred Mayr.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Colby Retirement Community for the care and compassion their mother received.
