Pearson, Barbara Lynn (Gaskin) (13 JUL 1948 - 13 MAR 2018)

Barbara Lynn Pearson, 69, Prentice, died in the Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1948, the daughter of George and Mary (Ballek) Gaskin.

As a young woman she served as a USO Girl in Chicago during the Vietnam War Era through her membership in the YMCA. She was married to Elton “Buz” Pearson on January 19, 1980, in Upper Marlboro, MD.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Prentice. She enjoyed her family and friends, and in her free time, photography.

She is survived by her husband, Elton; by four children, Mary A. (Terry) Pocock, Ogema, Paul C. Pearson, Ogema, Joseph B. (Shelly) Pearson, Medford, WI, and Donald D. (Heather Hedrington) Pearson, Appleton, WI; by two grandchildren, Rashawn Pocock and Edwin Pocock; and by many “adopted” children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and by one step-son, Danny Korab.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 17, at the First Baptist Church in Prentice with Pastor Neil Schindler officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday after 5:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.

The family wishes to thank the Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford, the Prentice Baptist Church, and her many friends and loved ones.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of an offering in Barbara’s name to your local church youth group, missionaries, or to the Ranch of Received Hope in Phillips.
