Wald, William E. (21 SEP 1943 - 14 MAR 2018)

William E. Wald, 74 of Gilman, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1943 to the late Ben and Elda (Wachsmuth) Wald.

Bill grew up in the Gilman area and graduated from Gilman High in 1961. After high school he served his country in the Air Force. On September 23, 1967 he was united in marriage to Frances Weigel in Hewitt, WI.

Bill was a Union Bricklayer for many years. He was also a member of the Gilman American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, making maple syrup, and spending time in the woods. Bill donated blood for many years and believed strongly in donating blood. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances of Gilman, five children, Dan (Myra West) Wald of Marshfield, Melissa (Michael) Wojcik and Gina (Will) Hodowanic both of Gilman and Stacy (Tim Hoppock) Warner and Tammy (Eric) Caelwaerts both of Pulaski, 13 grandchildren (Kayla, Ashley, Emily, Casey, James, Dylan, Cody, Elizabeth, Tyler, Joey, Justin, Robert, and Miranda), 4 great grandchildren (Sydney, Jaxon, Lincoln, and Abby) and his siblings, Fran Delisi of Illinois, Dennis (Gayle) Wald of Wausau and Martha Morris of Gilman.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family.
