Navy Petty Officer 3/C Dennis Bredlau returned to his ship, the U.S.S. Forrest
Sherman at Newport, Rhode Island, after spending a 10 day leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bredlau.
Upon arriving back at his ship, he was informed that he had been accepted in the
Navy Training School at Great Lakes Training Center, Ill., starting December 12,
1970. He will take a five month training course in electronics and computers.
For the past 18 months Dennis has been working with ship communications aboard
the destroyer Forrest Sherman. During this time he has made a Mediterranean
cruise, a Caribbean cruise, worked with the U.S. Coast Guard on hurricane rescue
missions, and most recently returned from a 5 month European cruise. On this
cruise the Forresst Sherman took part in several war maneuvers with ships of the
NATO forces. Also while on the cruise he has the opportunity to visit many
interesting cities in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Scotland, Norway and
Finland.
