Thompson, Ralph D. (3 APR 1943 - 17 MAR 2018)
Ralph D. Thompson, 74 of Exland, passed away unexpectedly at this home on
Saturday, March 17, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, 1 son, Dale of Cumberland, 3 daughters, Renee
Sajdera of Radisson, Julie Thompson of Exland and Denise Wiperfurth of Minoqua,
8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Max and Russ both of
Exland and Don of Winter, 3 sisters, Pauline Anderson of Darlington, Lorie
Cohoon of Exland and Mary Parsons of Monroe, WA. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ralph Thompson will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 22,
at the Exland United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Bartlett officiating.
Burial will be in Windfall Cemetery in Exland.
The Thompson family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday,
march 21 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith and from 10 AM until service
time on Thursday at the church.

Ralph David Thompson, 74, Exeland, WI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on
Saturday, March 17, 2018. Ralph David Thompson was born on April 3, 1943 in
Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the son of Paul and Eloise Thompson.
He was raised in the township of Meadowbrook and graduated from Winter High
School, class of 1961. He was a farmer and logger until 1967 when started his
career with Rural Insurance where he was an agent for 46 years earning several
awards throughout his career. Ralph was a member of the United Methodist Church
of Exeland his entire life, where he served as a Board Member. He spent over 30
years as a member of the Winter Area Lions Club and was recently elected to the
position of Zone Chairman. One of his favorite events to plan was the Old Car
Show sponsored by the Winter Area Lions Club, which is held on Memorial Weekend
in Winter, Wisconsin each year. His passions included hunting, fishing, trapping
and enjoy the outdoors by going to his cabin in Montana. He also loved to golf
with his friends. His Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren were the pride of
his life.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents (Eloise and Paul Thompson), three
sisters (Georgiana Thompson, Linda Thompson and Grace Smallwood,) and three
brothers (Billy Thompson, Robert Thompson and Phil Thompson.)
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Thompson, Exeland. One Son: Dale
Thompson (Barb Tschida), Cumberland. Three Daughters: Renee (Joe) Sajdera,
Radisson; Julie Thompson (Tim Czub), Exeland, and Denise (Todd) Wipperfurth,
Minoqua. Three Brothers: Max (Lois) Thompson, Exeland; Russ (Becky) Thompson,
Exeland and Don (Faye) Thompson, Winter, WI. Three Sisters: Pauline (Cliff)
Anderson, Darlington, WI; Lorie Cohoon, Exeland and Mary (Frank) Parsons,
Monroe, Washington. Two Sisters-in-Law: Elaine Thompson, Exeland and Sue
Thompson, Exeland. Eight Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren and 40 Nieces
and Nephews.
A funeral service celebrating Ralph’s life will be held at 11: 00 a.m. on
Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Exeland with
visitation at 10:00 a.m with Rev. Mark Bartlett officiating. Interment will be
at the Windfall Cemetery in Exeland immediately following the service. There
will also be a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at
the Nash Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith.
