Pastor Stephen Engelstad will be ordained into the ministry of the American
Lutheran Church and installed as pastor of Zion American Lutheran Churches in
the Towns of Grant and Pine Valley, Sunday. The 10:30 a.m. service at the Town
of Grant Church will be followed by a potluck dinner for both congregations.
There will be a short program afterwards.
Pastor Engelstad will be ordained by the Rev. Raymond Huss of the Ebenezer
Society, Minneapolis, Mn., and installed by the Rev. Robert Herder of the
district ALC office, Wausau.
The Rev. Marlin Stene, chaplain of Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis,
will deliver the sermon. Serving as liturgist will be the Rev. Alden
Moldenhauer, Wausau, who has acted an interim pastor of the congregations for
approximately the past eight months.
The new pastor is a native of Kenmare, N. D., where his father (now deceased)
was a clergyman. He is a 1970 graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Mn., and
a recent graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul. His internship was
served at Lutheran General Hospital and at Messiah Lutheran Church in Park
Ridge, Il.
Pastor Engelstad was married to the former Miss Gayle Schuetz of Joliet, Il., on
July 7, 1973. Mrs. Engelstad is a graduate of Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School
of Nursing in Minneapolis and has been employed there.
The couple met while he was in Park Ridge. They are now residing at the Zion
parsonage in the Town of Grant.
