Cohara, Josephine (18 March 1885 – 6 December 1974)
Mrs. Blaz (Josephine) Cohara, 89, of Willard, died Friday, December 6, at
Memorial Home, in Neillsville where she was a resident for the past four years
and nine months. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from
Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard with the Rev. Michael Mertens
officiating. Interment was to follow in the National Cemetery. The Hill Funeral
Home, Greenwood, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Cohara, the former Josephine Monka, was born in Poland on March 18, 1885.
She came to the United States and located in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she was
married to Blaz Cohara. Later, the couple lived in Kalamazoo, Mi., then moved to
a farm in the Willard area 57 years ago. The farm is now owned by a son, Andrew.
Mr. Cohara preceded his wife in death on November 16, 1971.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Ann) Chedsey of Denver, Co., five
sons: Joseph and John of Denver, Co., Leo of Riverside, Ca., Michael of Chicago,
Il., and Andrew of Willard; and 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She
is also, survived by a sister.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Cohara were to be her son-in-law, Howard Chedsey, and her
five sons: Joseph, John, Leo, Michael and Andrew.
