Janke, Jeanette (16 August 1929 – 24 March 2018)
Jeanette O. Janke, 88, of Humbird passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at her
home. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Milwaukee to the late Henry and Bertha
(Lueck) Stiemke. She married Orin Janke Aug. 22, 1952. He preceded her in death
Aug. 30, 2015.
Surviving are her children: Virginia (Richard) Somers of Green Bay, Paul Janke
of Meeker, CO, Sally (Jerome) Malecki of Black River Falls, and Steven (Jolene)
Janke of Humbird; grandchildren: Eric and Alice Somers, Christopher and Jennifer
Cormican, Kelsey Malecki, Marcus (Yujia), Joseph, Geralyn, Zachary, Gabriel and
Rudy Janke; great-grandchildren: Leana, Marley and Frederic; siblings: Irene
Nickel of Marshfield, Theodore (Willeen) Stiemke of Spencer, Arthur (Jeanne)
Stiemke and Verna Zimmerman, both of Neillsville; brother-in-law, Felix Kotcon
of Neillsville; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who
will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, grandson Kevin
Cormican, son-in-law Bruce Cormican, daugher-in-law Marci Janke, sister Roselyn
Kotcon and brother-in-law John Zimmerman.
Jeanette had a “green thumb” and was known for her amazing vegetable and flower
gardening. She exhibited many times at the Jackson County Fair, showing off some
of her harvest. She loved to walk and would do so whenever she had the chance.
She enjoyed crafting, making wreaths, painting gourds and sewing. She sewed
hundreds of quilts for World Relief. Jeanette was a great cook and loved to
watch her grandchildren whenever she could.
Jeanette’s entire life was devoted to the Lord in prayer, studying His Word, and
devotions. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Alma Center since her
marriage to Orin. Jeanette was a member of the Ladies Aide since 1963. She was
also a Sunday school teacher, 4-H club leader, a member of Happy Hour Homemakers
and a passionate active member of Jackson County Right to Life. Jeanette enjoyed
visiting friends who were homebound or in the nursing home. She left an
impression on her family and everyone she knew. They loved her and will miss her
dearly.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran
Church, 200 W. Main Street, Alma Center. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until
the time of services at the church. She was laid to rest at East Lawn Cemetery,
Alma Center. Memorials in Jeanette’s name can be made to Jackson County Right to
Life.
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, has been entrusted with arrangements.
