Yoder, Israel (1901? – 19 DEC 1970)
Israel Yoder, 69, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), died Saturday, December 19, 1970 of
injuries received the previous Wednesday when the buggy he was riding ion on a
rural Monroe country road was struck from behind by an auto.
According to Monroe County Sheriff, Ray Harris, the Amish buggy did carry a
lantern in the back and a slow moving vehicle sign, but the sign was not
reflecting. No charges have been filed against the driver of the auto, David J.
Larson, 17, New Lisbon.
Also injured in the crash was Yoder's wife, Mattie, 66, who was still listed in
serious condition Sunday. Yoder's son, John, 36, the buggy driver, and Yoder's
grandson, Samuel, 16, were reported in satisfactory condition Sunday.
