Nelson Ida E. (1880? – 10 JAN 1971)
Word was received here this week of the death of Mrs. James Nelson, a former
Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, who has lived the past 30 some years in
Milwaukee. She passed away Sunday, January 10, 1971 and was 90 years of age.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 13 at the Schmidt-Bartelt-Gerber
Funeral Home, Wauwatosa, with burial being made at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Nelson was the former Ida E. Barr of Boyd. It was in that village that she
was married to the late James Nelson, and then during the lumber era came to
Owen, where he was employed as a filer and sawer at the John S. Owen Lumber
Company mill, and later at the Owen Box & Crating Company. With the fading of
the lumbering industry here in the early 1930's, they left Owen, moving to
Ontagonan, Michigan, where they lived for several eyars prior to making their
home in Milwaukee in the mid-1940's.
Mr. Nelson died many years ago, but Mrs. Nelson had remained quite active
despite her advanced years, and served as a seamstress at Chapman's Store in
Milwaukee for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eunie Pietila, and a son Charles of Chatman,
N.J.; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
