Kirchmeyer, Russell Eugene (7 MAR 1930 - 22 MAR 2018)
Russell Eugene Kirchmeyer, 88, Town of Emery, died on Thursday, March 22, 2018,
at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips, while under the care of
Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice and his family.
He was born on March 7, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Frank and Bertha (Stibs)
Kirchmeyer. He made his home in Price County as a child. He attended grade and
high school in Prentice He graduated Prentice High School with the Class of
1948. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from
1950 to 1952.
He was married to Jeanne Cummings on September 8, 1952. They celebrated over 65
years of marriage.
He was employed by Omark Industries, Prentice, was the owner and operator of
Kirchmeyer Electric, was a dairy and beef farmer, and logger prior to his
retirement. In their
retirement he and his wife operated East Highland Bed and Breakfast.
He was a member of the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, Phillips and the
Southern Price County VFW Post #8491, Prentice. He was an avid member of
numerous historical organizations, the Forest History Assn., and was Citizen of
the Year in 1993. He enjoyed playing smear, was an avid outdoorsman who
especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne, Town of Emery, by 4 children: Ray (Pat) Black
River Falls, WI, Richard (Tonya), Prentice, Roy (Robin) Town of Emery, and Ruth
(Russell) Schilling, Medford, by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and by
1 sister: Carole Zellinger, Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Frank, Jr., and 2 sisters:
Virginia and Annette.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at
the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Pastor Glenn Sokolowski of St. John
Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery, Town of
Emery, with military honors by the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491,
Prentice and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, Phillips. Friends may
call at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from
9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
