Mary Stauner, 96, Almena, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Knapp Haven
Nursing Home, Chetek.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, at Durestnats, Germany, to John and Elizabeth (Damlightner)
Neubauer. She came to the United States at the age of one.
She married Mike Stauner at Almena on Nov. 11, 1924. He preceded her in death on
Sept. 7, 1989.
She was the oldest living member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Almena.
Surviving are sons, Peter (Deborah) and Albert, both of Almena; daughters,
Margaret Homme of Chetek, Rosie Klingelhoets of Barron, Laura (Dean) Shipla of
Rice Lake, Theresa (Ray) Envall of Duluth, Minn., and Caroline Hendricks of
Joliet, Ill.; 44 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren;
brothers, Teddy and Maynard Neubauer, both of Medford; and sisters, Bertha
Schrek of Cadott and Rosi Smieser, Frieda Johnson and Anne Farneski, all of
Medford.
In addition to her husband, her sons, Henry and Albert; a daughter; four
sisters; and five brothers preceded her in death.
Services held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, from Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Father David Lusson officiating, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery,
Almena.
Pallbearers are Peter Stauner Jr., Christopher Stauner, Nathan Stauner, James
Gubbin, Daniel Gubbin and Joe Klingelhoets.
Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, handled arrangements.
