Sullivan, Jeff (Education Honor - 2018)
Jeff Sullivan, dean of skilled trades and engineering at Chippewa Valley
Technical College (CVTC), has been honored as an Outstanding Career and
Technical Education Leader by the Wisconsin Association of Career and Technical
Education.
Sullivan was presented with the award for a person other than a classroom
instructor who has made significant contributions to career and technical
education, at the 2018 WACTE Professional Development Conference March 15 in
Middleton.
Sullivan’s nomination for the award came as a result of major accomplishments by
CVTC faculty and staff that advanced career and technical education initiatives,
particularly in connecting the technical college with area high schools. Among
these were:
Implementation of a National Science Foundation advanced manufacturing grant at
four rural high schools;
Implementation of a mobile manufacturing lab program bringing CVTC lab
facilities to rural schools;
In corporation of a workforce development program with Phillips Medisize in
Menomonie;
Development of a summer career and technical education teacher training program;
Addition of new programs, including embedded certifications valuable to
employers;
Creation of dual credit academy programs in technical education subjects with
area high schools.
“Jeff Sullivan possesses the vision, competence, initiative and drive that has
led to many improvements for our students, area K-12 students, educators and
employers,” said Julie Furst-Bowe, vice president of instruction at CVTC, “His
commitment to students is exceptional.”
Sullivan is the former career and technical education coordinator for the
Menomonie School District. He was recognized by the University of
Wisconsin-Stout in 2015 as one of five emerging leaders for the CTE Executive in
Residence program.
